About Mixing and My Studio...
What Is It I Do For You?
As a Mix Engineer I have a blank state when approaching your songs, fresh ears you could say. You've spent the time getting the perfect takes and trying out all your ideas. You've done your part in the creation process and my job is to help you decide what works for the songs. Not every part works all the time, that's just how it is. I give the songs focus by bring parts in and out and creating a dynamic that the listener will connect with. It's just like how movies are made. The editor wasn't there when all the takes were being made. If its not working for him, it hits the floor. That is essentially what I do in the grand scheme of things. Sure I add effects and balance the instruments and keep things in their own space, but ultimately my job is to make sure that your song is the best it can be on all accounts.
